It was a night to forget for former Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt as his Chippa United side were beaten 4-0 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

It was a much needed win for the Soweto side after they had gone four league matches without victory, having last won back in August against Baroka FC.

In a game in which Stuart Baxter’s side were in command pretty much throughout, Dolly grabbed two first half goals, both created by Billiat, who added the third goal himself in the second half – this time assisted by Dolly. Substitute Lazarous Kambole added icing on the cake when he netted in added time.

The first clear opening of the game had however fallen the way of Chippa striker Thokozani Sekotlong in the seventh minute, but after finding space just outside the big box, his shot was hurried and went marginally wide of the base of the upright.

Not long after that, in the 12th minute, and Amakhosi went in front in breathtaking fashion as Billiat won possession, broke down the left wing and squared for Dolly, who took the ball beautifully in his stride and swept in a superb first-time shot in the top corner.

Billiat was looking at his menacing best at times and it took a good save from Chilli Boys keeper Ismail Watenga to tip the Zimbabwean’s 19th minute effort over the bar.

Another chance followed for Amakhosi a few minutes later when Bernard Parker cut in from the left before guiding a right-footed shot inches wide of the far post.

Chiefs’ attack-minded approach was soon to be rewarded when Dolly netted again, in the 31st minute. The assist again came from Billiat, but this time Dolly had to do more as he ran onto the through-ball and outfoxed two defenders with a couple of turns before scoring with an emphatically curling shot.

At the other end, there was work to do for Chiefs keeper Daniel Akpeyi, who comfortably got behind a deflected effort from Siphesihle Mkhize in the 41st minute.

The Glamour Boys could have added another goal five minutes after the restart when the lively Phathutshedzo Nange won the ball in a dangerous position and teed up Dolly, but instead of going for the hat-trick, Dolly played it back to Nange who was caught by surprise and shot weakly.

Chippa soon sounded Chiefs a warning that the hosts’ lead remained precarious when Sekotlong beat the off-side trap and went clean in goal, but his shot was too close to Akpeyi, who made a great save.

The consolidation goal did however come, in the 70th minute; Dolly turning provider as he threaded in Billiat, who took the opportunity in clinical fashion with a low angled drive in at the far post.

To Chippa’s credit they kept fighting and had a couple of decent half chances.

But it was clearly Amakhosi’s night when Kambole scored only his second goal for the club in two seasons when he poked home a loose ball in the 91st minute.
