Mamelodi Sundowns extended their unbeaten start to the Betway Premiership with a 2-0 victory over Milford FC on Wednesday night, 2 September.

Playing at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, Gauteng, Milford – putting up a strong defensive front – denied their hosts several opportunities to score throughout the first half.

However, Sundowns made their pressure count on the stroke of half-time when forward Iqraam Rayners slotted home a close-range goal after a fine run from team-mate Aubrey Modiba.

Sundowns improved after the break, with midfielder Teboho Mokoena introduced to add control. Despite Milford’s admirable efforts, the points were secured in the 76th minute when Antonio van Wyk broke clear to fire into the bottom corner.

As a result of their 2-0 win – which marks their third successive Betway Premiership victory this season – Mamelodi Sundowns are sitting pretty in second place in the Premier Soccer League rankings with 13 points. As for plucky Milford, they occupy fifth place with seven points.
